Older women are less likely to do strength exercises, even though it can improve their overall health. A new study suggest that by working out one or two hours weekly, women can get smarter after 65.
Results show women between ages 65 and 75 had a sharper mind after one year of strength training. The improvement in executive functions was very high, 10.9% to 12.6%. In the same study, women that did not participate in strengthening exercises had decreasing executive function by 0.5%.
The improvements includes decision, planning, health and focus. The ability to resolve conflicts better was also noted in the study. I must have my mother start weight training in the gym.
How many women above 65 that exercise regularly with weights do you know?
